I created this web application (WebTrace) to try help trace the source of IP address or website address. Often I would like to know where a particular webserver is located, or find the origin of an IP address from an email (like spam) etc.
Using two freely avaliable software projects, the software uses a combination of the free version of MaxMind's GeoLite City (updated monthly) to convert an IP address into a geographical location (latitude & longitude), and the Google Maps to render these locations onto a geographical map. Fill in either a website address or an ip number to get it's geographical location.
